THE BIRTHINGHEIRS PROJECT

Introducing Boston’s First Doula Resource Library

Centering the Needs of Black & Brown Doulas

Many Doulas of Color face financial and systemic barriers to completing their certification. We are working to bridge that gap with a community library of books and supplies for Doulas, lactation educators, and birthing persons.

Resource Library Books

We are housing many of the books from the birth and postpartum Doula reading list. We are continuing to build our collection of books to serve local Doulas! If you are looking for a book but do not see it, please let us know and we will do our best to acquire it.

Support Your Local Doulas!

Birthing Heirs is a grassroots effort made possible by volunteer labor of love and small grants. Please consider supporting our project in the following ways:

Our Mission: is to create a comprehensive doula resource library that supports and empowers black and brown aspiring doulas in their journey towards becoming knowledgeable, skilled, and confident birth workers.

Our Values: Inclusivity – We believe in creating a safe and inclusive space that welcomes black and brown aspiring doulas from all backgrounds and experiences. Diversity – We are committed to creating a resource library that represents the diversity of the communities we serve, and we recognize the importance of this diversity for both our clients and doulas.
Collaboration – We value collaboration and partnerships with other birth workers and organizations to share knowledge, resources, and expertise in supporting aspiring doula communities.

Our Vision: is to provide black and brown aspiring doulas with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to become culturally competent and effective birth workers. We aim to elevate and empower these communities by providing resources, mentorship, and support that fosters their growth and expansion in the field of birth work.
